The Lodge’s convenient fishing boat rentals and guides add to the enjoyment of the area’s fantastic fishing.
We have a great population of Minnesota walleye, sauger, muskie, perch, crappie and smallmouth bass. Our location on Oak Island is right in the center of great fishing. No need for long boat rides to get to great fishing spots. Come visit us for a great Lake of the Woods fishing experience in our beautiful, uncrowded setting.
Boats, gas, and bait are available at the lodge. The new fish cleaning/bait house is fully air conditioned. We can clean your fish for you, or you are welcome to use the new facility. Guides are also available, or we are happy to mark up a map with some suggestions.
In the summer months, Sunset Lodge is accessible via your own boat from either Young’s Bay at the Northwest Angle, or from the south shore of the Lake of the Woods. (We can arrange a launch service from both locations.)

38 miles from the Main Lodge is the secluded Oak Island Lodge. It’s on the same island as our Eagle Ridge Lodge. It’s not uncommon to see bear, moose or a whitetail deer swimming when you’re out fishing. If you like nature, you’re going to love our Oak Island lodge.
This undisturbed remote island is a place where nature thrives. It’s filled with bald eagles, deer, bear and the fishing is undoubtedly world class. In this part of the Lake of the Woods, there is abundant population of Walleye, Sauger, Northerns, Muskies, Smallmouth Bass, Perch, and big Slab Crappies. Minnesota’s Department of Natural Resources has determined this to be a World-Class Fishery.
“From the Oak Island Lodge and Eagle Ridge Lodge, we fish more in Canadian waters and catch a greater variation of species than we do from the Main Lodge. Oak Island Resort
Our resort is located on the northwest side of Oak Island, Minnesota on one of the approximately 14,500 islands in Lake of the Woods. With over 64,000 miles of shoreline Lake of the Woods is one of the best natural fisheries in the world. The scenic sheltered island area surrounding our resort offers great fishing opportunities in the beautiful waters of both Minnesota and Ontario. A variety of fishing structure including rocky points and shorelines, sandy bays, weed beds and reefs provide excellent all season angling excitement for walleye, muskie, smallmouth bass, northern pike, perch and crappie.

Our rustic lodge has a fireplace, reading room, satellite TV, small store and pool table. Some items available in our store include charcoal, canned goods, milk, bread, butter, eggs, pizza, beer, candy, pop, souvenirs, charts, and tackle.

We offer modern housekeeping cabins with complete kitchen facilities including microwave, coffee makers, toasters, and cooking utensils. The weather, of course, is a deciding factor because all the fish like high, steady pressure systems. Early in the season, we fish the shallow shorelines and bays, which are very productive. When the water warms up in July and August, the Walleyes go deeper and we usually fish the submerged rocky reefs. This time of year, the weather is more settled and we have some consistently good fishing.
While staying at Angle Outpost, make a stop at historic Fort St. Charles and hear the Call of the Voyagers located just a few minutes by boat from our lodge.
